“Colin Ward’s Music If you’re ever in the Saint Petersburg, Florida area you should definitely look around and see if Colin Ward is playing somewhere. You might be able to find him playing at a local community event or a local bar. His music reflects the slower pace of life in on the beach, and that Florida mentality. Colin Ward Music He’s put together a new cd called Cappuccino. As I listened to the song Let’s Go Downtown, I thought of a lazy vacation day in Florida. The song has that twangy sound of a country song that kind made me think of some of Jimmy Buffett’s music. But the album has songs with a folksy feel to them like Oh, Appalachia. The song talks about some of the troubles that have faced the people of Appalachia, and how the people in the area have dealt with the problems. Cappuccino is Ward’s second cd. You can learn more about him and his music by visiting his website. And hopefully, we’ll hear more from Colin in the future. Posted by Heidi Fuqua at 8:16”
“Colin Ward’s most recent album Cappuccino was released just last week to an ever growing fanbase. The 12 song record is a mellow trip down a long winding road that is remarkably welcoming. ‘Let’s Go Downtown’ features some excellent guitar work and a warm keyboard line that seems to lift the listener to a higher place. The blues come out on ‘How Does Your Heart Feel Now’. The toe-tapping beat leads you through an interesting story of lost romance and moving on without regrets. There is a nice little reggae feel on ‘Your Mind’s A Mystery’. The welcoming beach sing along will make you reach for a nice tropical drink. Overall this a beautiful record to sit back and relax with as a warm breeze flows through your hair. Go enjoy it for yourself.”
“Recently, folk music has gained a new generation of younger fans due to artists such as Frank Turner , Laura Marling and Mumford and Sons. Since folk music became popular during the mid 20th century a lot has changed within the genre but at the same time , a lot has stayed the same. An artist who has really grasped this sense of change within the genre is Americana Folk/rock singer Colin Ward. After being given the opportunity to listen to a Folk singer/songwriter who I was not familiar with, it seemed a good opportunity to hear which direction the genre was going in. I believe any one from any age group can truly appreciate Colin’s music, and this is a massive bonus for an artist within the folk/rock genre of music. ”
“The Blue Island Beer Club practiced for no particular reason last Sunday, and (perhaps softened by the gift of a pretty good Paso Robles cabernet), Colin gave me a preliminary copy of his new CD. Let me put it this way: You know those nights when Colin is on, hitting every note with precision and Colintone? He's finally captured that in the studio. With the help of a bunch of talented friends he's also created an unprecedented variety of sounds. It's the goods, and I recommend it!”
“by Joshua Smotherman Grab Some Cigarettes ‘n Gasoline and Head To Sea With Colin Ward It’s chilly and raining outside but with the tropical frequencies of Cigarettes ‘n Gasoline filling the room, I might as well be on a boat in the Caribbean. On his newest album, Colin Ward takes us sailing through stories of pawn shops and beautiful days fishing around the Florida Keys. Playing guitar since he was 12, Colin has been influenced by a wide range of music including greats such as Eric Clapton, The Beatles, The Eagles, Jimmy Buffett, Chet Atkins, and Carole King. Cigarettes ‘n Gasoline is a reflection and combination of Ward’s world travels, his love of the tropics, and his excellent songwriting skills. His song Wish I’d Never has been used as background for Good Guys on FOX TV, he has placed songs in independent films, and his music has even made appearances in radio advertisements. ”
“I gave a quick listen to about 1/2 of the tracks from your new CD, "Dream On Down to the Keys". It's great Trop Rock. I recommend it to your followers, and anyone else reading this posting. I'll review it in it's entirety, once I have all the tracks in hand, and post it on the station's blog. Look for Colin Ward, and Bruce Kula's new release, on "The Shore", www.wnyshoreradio.com.”
“It's a great CD. Very pleasant listening also. I sing along with The Florida Keys song. And I love the song called Hey There Dad. Cigarettes and Gasoline tell a great story and loved it from the start to finish. All the songs are great, but those top my favorites so far. It may change as I continue listening. But Florida Keys will always be at the top of my list.”
“Cigarettes and Gasoline, a music CD by Florida-based songwriter and performer Colin Ward, is just what the doc ordered for me on this labor day weekend. From the folky-rock feel of a song like “Hand Upon Your Shoulder”, to the bluesy-rock vibe of the title track to the country rock sounds of a song like “Back to Texas”, it is a delightful, easy-going collection of tunes tied together by Colin’s vocals and fantastic guitar playing. There is a guitar sound here for everyone, from the finger-picking of “Hey There Dad”, to the many cool acoustic leads (in fact, too many to single one track out) to the great steel guitar sounds in “You’ll Regret it”.”
“Colin Ward's new CD, Cigarettes and Gasoline, from the very first note of -Hand Upon Your Shoulder -commands your attention. His fine picking and arrangements shine with highly polished musicianship throughout. He traces personal stories and creates portraits with his words, surrounded by intricate guitar work and gentle harmonies. There's not a dull moment on this cd because you are either caught up in his musical masterful melodies and guitar runs, or following an intriguing storyline throughout. The work is thoughtful and totally entertaining. You will enjoy it fully every listen.”
