About
Cobalt is Chicago's most excited rock/folk/pop/blues/awesome band. Young, enthusiastic, and blissfully ignorant of the latest indie trends, Cobalt's genre-fusing, instrument-swapping syncopated pop makes for one of the most entertaining live shows in Chicago. Cobalt keeps you guessing – and smiling – for the entire ride on their sweaty, high energy rock-train.

These four were raised on Blues, Beatles, and Stones, but inspired by the Chili Peppers, Ani DiFranco, and Dispatch, and other bands who worship their audience. Cobalt formed in 2003 at Oberlin College, but only recently settled in Chicago this June when Alie Plotsky (drums) and Mike Roth (bass/guitar) joined Chicago natives (and frontmen) Tom Fort and Matt Hart after Alie's graduation.
In January 2007 Cobalt released their debut LP "This Way Out," in charming DIY fashion under its own record label, followed by a tour of 22 shows in 15 states booked and promoted entirely by Cobalt themselves. Carving a serpentine path of destruction (just ask the Providence, RI cops... and fire department) and a hell of a good time, Cobalt left grinning, sweaty masses from Nashville to NYC attesting to their inevitable sonic glory. Rock.
