"My name is Kris Allen and I was on 'American Idol,'" Allen said to the crowd. Allen, along with opener Chris Nathan, played to a packed audience at the State Theatre last night. The show opened with Nathan, who performed a cover of Jay-Z's "Empire State of Mind" and said he found certain aspects of State College particularly impressive. "You guys got some badass cupcakes here," Nathan said. "You're making me all fat." Nathan went on to play a few of his own songs, including "Sunshine and Alcohol" and "Sugar Cane," before the show's headliner came to the stage.
