Bio
Nice guy, good music :)
Middle school teacher by day (yay-Teach for America!), singer-songwriter/cover artist by night (and summers), Chris Bryant approaches varied genres and subject matter with the same approach – soulful honesty. A relative newcomer to the scene, he’s wasted little time in establishing himself as a proven entertainer with a strong voice and steady mind. Independently recording, producing, and releasing 3 CD’s over the short period of 9 months, Bryant has exhibited great skill and potential in the areas of songwriting, musicianship, performance, and promotion.
About
Bryant’s debut EP, “Please Be Patient With Me” (March 2009) features 5 original songs, a Texas Prison work song, and a gospel song. Bryant provides the guitar work and vocals. His second album, “Mistake Number One” (September 2009) is an acoustic reinterpretation of Ben Harper and Relentless 7’s “White Lies for Dark Times.” This full-length album showcases Bryant’s arranging capabilities and skill on additional instruments (harmonica, piano, and various hand percussion). In November 2009, Chris will release a gospel/spiritual album.
Chris Bryant has extensive live performance and recording experience, despite only performing as a solo act since January 2009. As a member of the nationally renowned Pitchforks of Duke University between 2004-2008, he performed nearly 200 shows for audiences up and down the East coast. For a brief period in 2008, he fronted a rock band active in North Carolina. Most recently, Bryant has found success entertaining diverse crowds in various venues with his sincere blend of original and cover songs.
Currently based in Durham, North Carolina, Chris Bryant is booking 2010 dates throughout the Southeast United States in various music venues including but not limited to dedicated music clubs, festivals, cafes, restaurants, colleges, and coffee shops. He is also pursuing European dates in the summer/fall of 2010.
Chris Bryant…
…is most frequently compared to Ben Harper (and knows way too many of his songs).
…craves adult conversation after days spent with 7th graders.
…will eat anything once?
