Bio
Hard Hitting Melodic Rock Music with Variable Electronic Influence.
Bulletproof Messenger is a 6 piece hard rock group assembled from different areas of the Northeastern United States. While the eclectic group hates to pigeonhole themselves into one specific category of music they can deal with describing themselves as a diverse form of heavy rock music. Vol Martin, the band’s Guitarist/songwriter explains; “We really pride ourselves on presenting an eclectic and different sound but not going so crazy as to bore or alienate the listener, we still like to keep it mainstream enough that a lot of people can enjoy it”
About
Formerly known to many as Gone To Earth, BulletProof Messenger experimented with many styles of music before finally finding their nche. While the melodic guitar riffs resemble that of alternative rock, the programming and electronics add a completely new dynamic. All the different influences are clearly reflected in the music and live performances. In early 2004, after a grueling three year search for a singer, vocalist Marcus Klavan joined the band. His dedication was immediately evident when he relocated from his home in Maryland to Long Island, NY. Immediately following Marucs' incorporation into the group, the band caught their big break. Incubus chose the band to perform as their opening act after consideration of countless applicants. This show ignited the following years touring schedule. In early 2005, the band was selected to perform in the 92.5 KGB FM Clear Channel Battle of the Bands. After being selected from over 50 applicants, the band went on to win the competition, turning heads along the way with their newest addition drummer, Alex Straiter . His energy at live performances and unique style brought an exciting new dynamic to the sound of BulletProof Messenger. In August of 2005, the band was selected by Collective Soul to be the direct opener for the release of their new 2005 album. Just days later, the band was selected by XM Satellite Radio as one of the top unsigned acts in the country. In November of 2005, the band entered into a nationwide contest to be an opener for the bands Trapt and Blindside. Out of over 1000 entries, Trapt selected BulletProof Messenger was selected to perform. Since that time, BulletProof Messenger has undergone many changes. Two new members were added to the group: Jesse Downing, former bassist for Shootyz Groove and Wetwerks, and Scott Martin on guitar. After a year and a half in pre-production and 3 months in the studio, working with noteworthy individuals such as Tony Dawsey (NIN, Jay-Z, Kid Rock) BulletProof Messenger completed their debut release, The Crucial Line, released in November 2006. Following the bands debut release, in mid 2007, BulletProof Messenger was selected from over 3,000 acts world wide, to perform a special showcase for Sellaband.com at the Gibson Guitar Studios in London. This show attracted the attention of various international music press and greatly increased the bands international following.
