the BREAKNIKS BIO:
Formed in 2004 and hailing from the Southeast of England, We 'the Breakniks' aim and maintain to keep it where its always been for us....

Inspired and Influenced by the American 'Electro' scene of the 80’s and the whole early computer movement, we try not to deviate from the course of making fully laid down tracks, rockin' beats and all tracks are geared toward top quailty production.[ apart from our old shit ;-)]
Be it Breakbeat, nu skool breaks, hardcore, drum/bass, electro, trip hop, ambient.
"...we're not pushing the boundaries.... we’re just making tracks that we wanted to hear ...and if other people like'em......bullseye!!!" – stunt cock.
We have also delved into Pirate Radio, D.J'ING and had some early tracks played on Vibe FM on the breaks show (before this got bought out by Kiss FM)
Our proudest moment to date came with the release of NEWCLEUS'S legendary ’Jam on it’ remix c.d, on Jam on Productions. We gave this old skool favourite the 'nik' re-worked treatment with our ‘Psychosis’ remix.........also, later this year, an ’Automan’ remix will be available on the same label. [keep rockin' it Cozmo]
About
We ‘try’ to make the tracks as big as possible, while not losing the feeling or dynamics.So no compression, or limiters... well, not alot if we do.
WHY?
Warmth.
HOW DO WE KEEP THEM WARM?
By steering clear of the radio's 'louder sells more tracks' mentality we keep dynamics….
THE PHiLOSAPHY OF A BREAKNIK .
we mainly use a ‘break’ as the structure of the song, and then by rapping it up tight, and tucked in, as so’s not to let it get cold we build ….
1) THE CONSTRUCTION OF A TRACK, WHICH IS FUNDAMENTALY, BUILT FROM A SAMPLE BASE ….
Not just a song with a sample JAMMED IN!!! [Its ‘these’ types of tracks that BROUGHT the death of the sampling, CLASSING IT…
the killer of ‘live’ music and the people who made it as talantless or seen as a cheap way of making a quick buck out of the public.
…. Catchier the loop…the more we’ll make. .
THIS IS A LIVING SAMPLE [not static or sitting about] BUT TOTALLY EXPANDED ON. A LIVING SAMPLE THAT BREATHS LIFE AROUND + EMBELISHES WHAT EVERS GOING ON.
It’s not something we use to simply drop into a chorus to get you hooked. IF THE SAMPLE WASN’T THERE…. THE TRACK WOULD NOT EXIST!!!
If your a ‘PINK [original samplers] FLOYD’ fan [as we are] you’ll know exactly what we mean by ………The art of sound scapeing.
The best examples being from their 70 -78 period [saying that I like all off it ;-)]- Atom heart mother/ meddle/ darkside of the moon/ wish you were here/ animals/ the wall. Not necessarily ‘concept’ albums, But albums that grow and FEEL their way through and into each song.
