Details
The 2012 Edge Festival opens on August 10th and runs through until August 12th. Visiting the pristine Islands of Haida Gwaii is likely on your lifetime To Do list (and if it isn’t, it should be). There are countless reasons to experience this remote corner of the world – natural untouched beauty, fresh seafood, stunning vistas, friendly locals, and Haida Culture. The beginning of August brings one more reason to visit – The Edge of the World Music Festival held at the Tlell Fall Fairgrounds, Tlell. The biggest live music event on Island, the Edge of the World Music Festival has been entertaining audiences for many years. Featuring a wonderful mix of local talent and off-island guests, our festival has something for everyone. Opening and closing with traditional Haida song and dance, the EOTW music festival endeavours to bring you a wide selection of musical acts – First nations, world beat, electronica, blues, rock, folk, reggae, country, hip-hop and everything in between. In addition to that, there are fringe performers, a children’s area with creative and fun activities, a great selection of food and merchandise vendors, and amazing workshops put on by the artists for everyone to enjoy. So bring your blanket, your dancing shoes, and prepare to enjoy one of the most memorable musical events in Northern British Columbia. The music festival is a family event and the Tlell Fairgrounds are an Alcohol and Drug Free Zone. Please keep your pets at home as animals are not allowed on the festival grounds or the parking area. Parents: Note that the Tlell River borders the fairgrounds so you will need to supervise your little ones carefully. The Festival will have security on the festival grounds during performing hours only. There will be no security provided for the camping grounds. While you are responsible for your own property the festival will maintain a Lost & Found. Emergency first aid will be available during performing hours only.
