Starting at 18 years of age, Rusty Mainard traveled around Texas, performing at local clubs and events—anywhere he could get the chance to perform. He returned to Kansas City, where he built his own home recording studio to record demos for local musicians. That’s where he met Kevin Scott and Mike Criger, both of whom had been playing in bands since their early teens. The recording began and “Bofus” was born.
