“OMGosh! BME does it again. I Get Lifted is their newest addition to the Music That Sparks with Sparks site. This tune starts with a "spoken word" vibe by Cmahmi. The flute and sax work by Jesse Adams Jr gives it that in-flight feeling. The strings are on the order of the type of arrangements Clare Fisher wrote when commissioned by Prince on his "Cherry Moon" album. Then fast forwards to a straight-ahead pocket-r&b/funk groove. This tune is so reminiscent of the Jeff Lorber/Karen White colab's of the 90's but with a nice contemporary feel. The sax work is simply phenomenal. Very mellow and yet presence-filled at the same time. The piano and organ overtones are subtle and yet in your face. The bottom (the Bass) is superbly set as the foundation.
