Michael Varlet, vocals/guitar, provided a fresh and raw brutality rarely seen in the Australian music scene with his dry and his 80's thrash look. He and guitarist Douglass Mabbutt trading instances of blistering solos and filled with technicality was a personal highlight and Varlet even entered the pit at one stage to enjoy some quality moshing time with the fans. “'For the most part, the songs come across with the guitars being the obvious maestro, both intricate and aggressive all at once with the other element falling neatly into place. The great part though, unlike a lot of current European styled Melodeath bands is that all the instruments manage to not only fit their part but also excel in their own fields. The drums are pounding and consistent but are also creative and non standard, the vocals are dynamic and changing instead of stoic and bland and much the same can be rest for the rest of the band. The keyboards are quite in your face for the most part, and though I generally find that to be counterproductive, in this case it only adds to the epic feel of the album. The note choice is superb and complimentary to every part of the song and never gets fatiguing, again another very impressive aspect coming from such a young band.'”

I was really looking forward to checking out the melodic Death metal quintet and was a bit cut when I heard of their time constraints; which in true rock-star fashion, they disobeyed! Before Nightfall’s’ brand of metal is beautiful as it is rhythmic. The band combines screams, amazingly structured and layered lead riffs over intense rhythms with added samples at the most appropriate times. Live, their sound is incredibly precise and, to some weird extent, thought provoking. But most of all, some of their riffs are extremely catchy and, that is something every band should strive for. Overall, it was an amazing set and I wish that they had more time to play.'”
