“There was one contender for favourite album of the year, until a friend introduced me to Au4 in early December. So here’s both! Au4 – And Down Goes The Sky A new to me Canadian collaborative band and one that I’ve been entirely won over by. And Down Goes The Sky has some of the most amazingly good lyrical storytelling I’ve come across in long years, with powerful post-rock, dance and electronica sounds. The rhythm and lyrics had me hooked instantly and there are more layers revealed with repeat listens. A band that includes the Planck Scale as a philosophical song theme is going to have my instant “Love this!” reaction. (I found a great explanation of 1.6 x 10-35 here at relativity meets quantum mechanics meets gravity. Thank you to the University of NSW, Sydney). My particular favourites are Lost Her Way Home, with a great play between male/female sung narrative, Propagation of Light (Through the Ether of Emotion) which deserves to be a novel as well as a dance track .”
Ask Au4 anything...
Q: Any chance the band will be touring and if yes, come to Ottawa? Thanks.
A: Thanks for supporting our project. We do plan on taking the show on the road. Most likely south first, but if we hit the east coast, we'll jump back up across the border for sure. All the best!
