Oh my, oh my, I am so very excited to let you all know that I have the next installment of my show "A Stranger on Earth - The Dinah Washington Story" booked!!! It is going to be right downtown at the beautiful FanClub at 1050 Granville where all the action is. This is going to be a very special evening as it is the 50th anniversary of Dinah's passing and I want to ensure that we celebrate her life and career on such a momentous and monumental occasion. The longer I perform this show and the more I get to know Dinah Washington - Verve Records, the closer I feel to her and the ability to give the truth and tell her amazing story. I have with me for the evening the ever amazing ASOE band consisting of Olaf de Shield on Guitar and Music Director, Nick Apivor on Piano & Vibes, Malcolm Aiken on Trumpet, Dave Say on Sax, Mark Bender on Acoustic Bass and Jesse Cahill on Drums. There will also be some great surprised throughout the night so come on down, plan your Christmas parties along with us for the evening and have a great time with a great story, music and friends!
It’s all about the music and the radio shows of the 1940s, ’50s and ’60s. It features legendary Vancouver rock ‘n’ roll broadcaster Red Robinson and CBC Morning Edition host Rick Cluff introducing several acts, just like they did on radio shows in the days when theatres often acted as studios. Featuring The Hot Mammas, other performers include The Brothers Arntzen, Jayleen Stonehouse, Aaron Wong and singer Michael Sicoly
The Columbia Theatre is an all ages venue that has recently been granted historical status and has been renovated to it former glory of 1927 when it was "The Royal Theatre" on "The Golden Mile", the place to be when New Westminster was the capital of BC. What a perfect venue for this engaging and historical story of "The Queen of the Blues", Dinah Washington. This show is being presented as a part of an "Edutainment Series", called "The History of the Blues", brought to you by The Columbia Theatre. Tickets can be bought in the package or a'la carte! Details on the series to be posted on http://thecolumbia.ca/ in the very near future.
A Stranger On Earth - The Dinah Washington Story at The Columbia Theatre An engaging and intimate evening of story and song. I've always felt an emotional connection whenever I sang a Dinah Washington song. Now, after a year of intense research, writing, and editing, A Stranger on Earth will debut June 21 at the Columbia Theatre in New Westminster. An engaging and intimate evening of story and song. When I discovered that A Stranger on Earth was the last song Dinah recorded and that she stated would be her biggest hit, the story of her life, this had to become the title of the show!
