After years of studying, composing, and playing standard jazz in a variety of ensembles, we seem to have found our true element in the world of free jazz. We have become increasingly interested in the free jazz format (or lack thereof), which calls for a continuous co-creation of sound. The result is a never-ending series of spontaneously formed "compositions", which strive to include the listener in the creative process rather than to impress or even entertain. With just one another to depend on, we distill the jazz form down to the basics--listen, respond, create.
