Bold, ambitious, and motivational are not just a collection of random words, but rather 3 very simple words that can describe this talented artist. By Any Meanz, also known as B.A.M, was born March of 1988 in the Bay Area of Oakland California. Shortly after his birth he and his family relocated to Vallejo, California where he begins his journey into manhood. B.A.M's upbringing caused him many obstacles that would create the wise and tenacious man that he is today. Being raised in an abusive household by the hands of his step-father till the age of 12 and not knowing his biological father until around that same time really affected his life in a very negative way.
Not knowing and understanding how to control his anger, B.A.M, would often
find trouble. Having developed a stutter in his speech due to the constant abuse at home caused a lot of ridicule and humiliation from fellow students and peers around him. Constantly fighting in the streets and at school B.A.M was eventually expelled and sent off to stay with relatives anywhere that he was accepted. Feeling as if he didn’t belong and not ever knowing what love or acceptance felt like he would continue to find hardship wherever he went. Having no choice but to return home, B.A.M, found a place of belonging in the West Side of Vallejo where he would obtain his street knowledge and reputation.
At the age of thirteen years old B.A.M was introduced to the art of making music by a very close friend of his. His friend came over and installed the popular production program “Fruity Loops” on his computer and quickly showed him the basics to get started making beats. Being the fast learner that he is, B.A.M, than started to discover how to produce his own sound and spent hours on in evolving in his craft. Being influenced by artists such as Jay-Z, The Lox, Tupac, San Quinn, Scarface, & Rocko, just to name a few, he slowly started developing his passionate flow that defines him as an artist today. Very often being compared to DMX because of his deep voice or Scarface because of his lyrical content, B.A.M, is definitely in his own lane and has a rap style that he very proudly call’s his own. His music depicts a man that discovers himself through a life filled with lessons of triumphs, tribulations, and perseverance. And nobody can tell his story better than he can.
In 2009, B.A.M, was sentenced to a California Corrections facility for probation violations and a gun charge where he would serve his time reading books and continuing to work on his craft as an artist. With just having a baby a few months before, he made the conscious decision that this was the last of his losing streak and he made a vow to change his life for the better. With coming straight home to fatherhood and a newfound passion for success, B.A.M, was on the right track but wasn’t finished losing just yet. Shortly after his release from Prison, B.A.M, lost his biological father to heart problems. This unfortunate occurrence was a very tragic moment for, B.A.M, being that he was fairly fresh in the process of mending and building a relationship that he yearned for his whole life.
Having been through so much, B.A.M, has took his trials and tribulations and have made them the motive and the reasoning behind his relentless drive and push for success in the music industry. His musical versatility is a rarity and must not be overlooked. His subject matter is precise and well thought out and his delivery will catch you every time he blesses a track. He tells his life story in many of his songs and never lacks the lyrical capacity to be able to explain himself in the proper manner. Never lacking honesty and never settling for less than extraordinary, B.A.M, is most definitely the prime definition of what this new age hip hop era is missing.
