The Roots & Rhythm band ignites hearts and propels feet to the dance floor by performing jump blues and swing, 50’s rock n’ roll and New Orleans funk and soul.
Plenty of spicy original music is blended with classic crowd pleasers from Brian Setzer, James Brown, The Meters, T-Bone Walker, Louis Jordan, Albert King, Buddy Guy and BB King.
“Spicy” James Speiser’s hollow-body guitar is hot and he has cultivated one of Denver’s most surprisingly gritty and soulful voices. This is paired beautifully with Pattie Melt’s sophisticated tenor saxophone which gives way to fiery licks as the show heats up!
This dynamic duo is backed up by one of the hottest rhythm sections in the country. Stellar upright bassist John Grigsby and A-list drummer Matt Amundson form the funky foundation of the tight swinging groove.
Roots & Rhythm is the talk of the town. They are now performing venues like the Fillmore Auditorium. In April they were a featured band of the Root 40 Music Festival. The Colorado Blues Society’s HOLLER! magazine featured Roots & Rhythm and their new CD Phantom Blues. They hit #1 on Denver Blues charts and were featured in Colorado Serenity Magazine.
Authentic old school soul combined with powerful dynamics of volume and emotional intensity are the hallmarks of the Roots & Rhythm sound. Savor the tasty entertainment delivered to you with style and showmanship!
