March by Cadence is all original music written and performed by lead singer, Samantha Marie and lead guitarist, Jonathan Pharr. MbC was born from Samantha’s idea to raise money for her tuition at CFNI, while Jonathan envisioned their music reaching much larger audiences and touching many more lives. Once collaboration started, Jon and Sam knew they needed to recruit Adrian Martinez, aka AJ, to take on the drums and complete the heartbeat of MbC. Samantha and Jonathan have an extraordinary ability to reach into the deepest part of your soul, lay it bare and then make you want to rock out as only true artists can. While rehearsing one night Alex Rueda stopped in, picked up the guitar and by the end of the night the trio knew they found their lead guitarist. Kayla stumbled into the picture one evening when Sam and Jon were recording the live performance of Abandon Kansas in Kayla's loft downtown, Dallas. Once girls get talking, the rest is history! As much as these musicians love music, they love God even more; He is their one true Muse. Devoted Christians with their hearts on fire for God, MbC’s goal is to see Heaven invade Earth through their music. Sam, Jon, AJ, Kayla and Alex have come together with the same heart and with the same mind to make March by Cadence the hottest group to reach the DFW area.
Now let’s get personal…
Samantha has had music in her veins since she was humming herself to sleep as an infant. She not only enjoys all genres, she has been trained in them all, yet her heart holds true with Rock. Born and raised in Chicago, Samantha ended up in Dallas in 2009 with only $200 in her pocket and a dream she needed fulfilled. After three years and various connections, March by Cadence was born.
While Samantha expresses her love for music through writing, playing piano, guitar, and singing, AJ expresses his love for music through the drums. He started in percussion in 8th grade and proceeded to learn to play several genres of music such as Rock, Pop, Latin, Punk, Hip Hop, and Samba to name a few. Adrian has played in multiple bands with diverse styles over the years and is excited to be a part of March by Cadence.
Jonathan Pharr is a world-class musician who enjoys every genre of music and always keeps an eye open for new and exciting opportunities. Not only does Jonathan share his passion for music by teaching, but also has been seen across the nation performing on stages with multiple bands. He specializes in drums, guitar and bass. He has recorded multiple albums that have been played around the world. Jonathan owns a music school to spread his love of the arts; March by Cadence is yet another outlet for him to share his appreciation for music.
Kayla Hummel picked up the bass in 2007 and loved it! She likes to keep things edgy sporting a pink glitter bass guitar, yet Worship music is her favorite. Kayla has played on several different worship teams in the 5 years since she learned bass and her inspiration is Wendy Drennen, bassist for Fireflight. With her freshly discovered devotion to music, Kayla is stoked to be March by Cadence’s new bass guitar player.
After moving to Texas at the age of 12, Alexander (Alex) Rueda uncovered his love for music when his father handed him a guitar and said “Here you go.” He self taught beginning with blues, jazz and classical; Alex later took lessons, opening his eyes to just how much knowledge there is to gain and growing his appreciation for both music and the guitar. He has played alternative, pop, punk, thrash, metal and progressive rock in several different bands across the DFW area and is excited to be a part of March by Cadence!
March by Cadence is a mixture of dub step and melodic rock harmonies. Each song brings a unique sound that creates a fresh electrifying experience to the music scene. The vocals add distinct sounds from all over the map creating a melting pot of highs and lows beyond your average two-octave artist. Be prepared for the very definition of cutting-edge.
