"Collabo Queen," Queen Rhodium, a.k.a. Queen Rho makes a graceful introduction to the St. Louis underground Hip-Hop scene. Known in the area as a multi-musician, Queen can be found taking the stage with a multitude of talent: at times with a mic and deep lyrical content, and others rockin' out with any of her favorite instruments.
Queen Rho is founder of Queen Rhodium, LLC, and works with local and national representatives of Philanthropies with agendas of positive community development and adolescent mentor-ship programs. Many ask where Queen comes from, delighted by a refreshing positive energy rarely seen in the St. Louis area.
When interviewed by Kevin C. Johnson for his article on St. Louis hip-hop women, her positive energy and response shows passion and determination for her craft. A quote from the article displays her perceptive on female opportunities in the area:
“I do find it challenging as a female for obvious reasons, from there being a lot of connections that can be made that don’t get made to people not taking female emcees seriously,” Queen Rho says. “A number of things come up. You have to have an unnatural amount of persistence.”
Queen Rho's recent projects include Nite Owl Presents: Collabo Queens, the hottest local all-female emcee album in the Lou. This electrifying set has been a crowd favorite in the area, hosted by "Local Celebrity" Nite Owl, winner of 2012 RFT best solo hip-hop artist. 2013 is full of exciting events already, be sure to tune into the Queen Rho adventures!
