Greetings fellow Bent on Blues (BoB) fans!!!
From each of us... Dale, Geoff, Matt, Steve (our newest member!), and of course our prettiest, Trish... we want to extend our heartfelt welcome to all our fans.
We know you’re here because we share a passion for great music that continues to deeply move us all in directions that feed our heart and soul...
While we call ourselves a "Blues" band, we hate being colored as one dimensional, in that we take what is old and make it fresh again, by putting a different "twist" to the "shout", so to speak. We love making our own indelible sound that is guaranteed to keep you coming back for more...
Our "styles " include Memphis, Deep Dish Chicago, Mississippi and righteous hell-raisin' Texas electric blues; we are dedicated to playing and performing originals and
classics tastefully interpreted and presented in ways guaranteed to "git yer mojo workin" and "yer hips a'shakin baby"...!!! We look forward to you attending one of our upcoming shows and are always excited to play in new venues and events. Whether they are parks, pubs, breweries, wineries or even private parties.. let us know
how we can make your live music experience complete...!!!!
Now... lets introduce our bandmates.....
Geoff Tyree has actively been involved with playing guitar and singing for over 20 years. Not new to performing, he has enjoyed singing and playing to fans in the Northwest in various venues and playing many different styles of music including acoustic 6 and 12 string guitar as well as laying down awesome rhythms on his Fender Strat.... He recently has spent several seasons singing and playing with Cindy McKay before turning his focussed attention to the blues.... And we are all better for it...!!!
Matt Funk has enjoyed playing bass since high school and has toured professionally (Felonz) up and down the west coast with an assortment of early grunge and heavy rock bands, until he found a new love for the blues!!! Awesome style and feel as well as comfort singing his own favorites, he really packs a punch!!
He's gotta be good, he plays left handed, with the strings upside down...!!!
Our newest BoB member Steve McCowan has a lifelong history of music, especially in bands!! While In 4th grade, he saw the Beatles on the Ed Sullivan Show and from that moment on he knew that being in a rock and roll band was what he wanted to do… Three weeks later bought his first Guitar. He joined his first band by the time he was 11 years old. By the seventh grade, he had been in several different bands. "We could never find a drummer that could keep time, so I took over the job, and the rest was history!" Says Steve. He has now been playing drums for over three decades performing all over the Greater Northwest, California and Canada and loves the Blues... and we are elated to have Steve as a part our BoB family..!!!
Dale (DW) Long has played since he got a Sears Roebuck acoustic when he was 12... and LOVES the blues... performing solo in small venues through the 80's he has taken an affection to playing both traditional as well as contemporary blues using an assortment of Fender Strats, Tele's, 6 & 12 String Guild guitars....
And finally, Trish Thompson. She continues to "wow" us all since joining us two years ago. Simply put, we wouldn't be who we are and progressed as far as we have without her. She has brought to our stage a voice that exemplifies the meaning of sultry blues. Her lead vocals as well as sweet harmonys add to the multiple colors and depth of our music. A voice to be experienced. She has been performing in the regionally acclaimed trio "BlueZette" with critically acclaimed pianist Steve Haberman (whom occassionaly joins us too!)
