Konfidence Lion was born March 2, 1981 in San Fernando General Hospital in Trinidad, Tobago. He is the oldest of four siblings. Konfidence was introduced to music at a young age by his father, who sang lead for a group called Black Starliner. His inspiration came in 1990 while watching his father write music for the first time. Even though he wasn’t active in pursuing his dreams, at the tender age of nine, Konfidence knew he was destined to make it in the music industry.
In 1991 Konfidence moved with his family from Trinidad, Tobago to Brooklyn, NY. The cultural mix nurtured his love for music, and he began free-styling with his peers in Brooklyn. Later on, at the age of 13, Konfidence moved with his mother and siblings to Miami, Florida. A year after his move to Florida, he began to write lyrics and apply them to music. He performed in Miami for a band called War Face, opening for talented reggae artists such as Capleton, Sizzla and many others. Konfidence enjoyed working with his bandmates, Itemo, Byngie Heights and Jahiray, but he longed to send his musical message to the masses. At the age of 20, Konfidence bid his fellow band members farewell and moved back to Brooklyn, NY in search of better opportunities in the industry.
Konfidence’s style of music is conscious reggae. His goal is to send a message of awareness, understanding and consciousness about the world around us through his music. Today he can attest that his inspiration and his ability come from the Almighty.
Konfidence currently resides in Brooklyn, NY. He performs at various venues and he welcomes his new role of leadership as a King to his Empress Seneca and his two young sons: Menilek, who is five years old and Immanuel, who is 1. Look forward to his album in 2013 featuring single Been Going on.
