Born Clayton Barry (CB) Hawkins, named after his father, emcee Spitten Image was raised in the 90's, considered by many to be the golden era of Hip Hop, a time when meaningful yet raw lyrics dominated the airwaves, influencing the youth..
Growing up, Spitten Image was no stranger to the harsh realities life has in store... Between suffering the losses of family and friends, the loneliness of being raised between two families, and the narrow path of self discovery, he sought refuge in isolation, writing about everything he saw in the mirror... The good, the bad, and everything in between.
..."Spitten Image" is born!
Spitten Image's skills improved quickly, and in the Summer of 2009, he and his childhood friend Tranquil Flow, along with Ottawa-based DJ Selecta Galis, formed a trio called "Live Feed". After releasing their well-received debut self-titled mixtape " Live Feed", the trio's fan base grew, and they played several shows including "Vincent Massey Park's Jamaican Family Day 2009", "United Way's Fundraise the Roof" at Capital Music Hall, and "The Next Episode" at the Live Lounge in Ottawa. As their fan base grew, however, emcee Tranquil Flow decided to take a new direction in his life, and the Live Feed era came to an end...
Spitten Image now found himself without a rhyming partner, and once again faced the self-tormenting demons that had once consumed him. However, inspired by his former partner's lyric "life's lived forward but understood in reverse, and when you really rise is when you're at your worst" Spitten Image once again found solace in isolation, and his writing skills improved at an unprecedented pace. Within the year he released and has begun performing his first solo mixtape "Microphone Phenomenal", featuring hits such as "Microphone Phenomenal", "Simple Man" (featured on House of Paint's 2011 Mixtape), "This is Hip Hop", and "Winter Snow".
After gaining momentum with the release of his first solo mixtape, and recording with the likes of M.A., J. Rich, and Tragic of Philly Moves, Spitten Image's brutally honest lyrics combined with his raw and authentic bi-polar-like rhyme delivery are soon to become a force on the Hip Hop scene.
