The band is fronted by guitarist & vocalist, Reese Boyd (The Spirit Of Rush, Reelin' In The Dan). Reese is a veteran of the North Atlanta jam scene and has sat in and played, or jammed with such bands and musicians as: The Yonrico Scott Band, Todd Smallie, Nick Moroch (David Sanborn), Ike Stubblefield, Kevin Scott & Duane Trucks (both from Col. Bruce Hampton), Barry Richman, Soulshine (Allman Bros. tribute band), The Lefty Williams Band, Randy Chapman, ROX, Block Party, Uncle Don & The Bullet Proof Blues Band, Chameleon, The Dead Kegs, The Wayward Hounds, Blues Cat, The Alternators, etc.. Reese has been playing guitar since he was 5 years old by ear. All original songs have been written, composed and vocalized by Reese .
Reese has made appearances at the following venues: HemlockFest (Dahlonega), The Big House Allman Brothers Museum (Macon), The Masquerade (Atlanta), VFW Vet Fest (Cumming Fair Grounds), Grant's Lounge (Macon), Henry's Louisiana Grill (Acworth), The Cave (Kennesaw), Fat Matt's Rib Shack (Atlanta), Bella's Pizzeria (Smyrna), Halftime Grill (Suwanee), etc.
The Reese Boyd Project's roots go back to Spring 2010, when Reese met "Uncle" Don East & The Bullet Proof Blues Band (Don, Ed Shelton & Rick Austin) at a show in Suwanee, GA. They discovered that they had a great deal in common in regard to musical tastes. They all liked playing Classic Rock, Southern Rock & Prog Rock. Don East often invited Reese up to play with his band. Over several sit ins, another band (The Reese Boyd Project) emerged with Reese Boyd, Ed Shelton and Rick Austin.
Rick Austin is a drummer in high demand, playing in many bands including: The Erin Hill Band, Uncle Don's Bullet Proof Blues Band, The Zone, Shaky Dave and the Barstools, & The Nephews. Rick also teaches percussion at The Gwinnett School of Music.
Ed Shelton is an accomplished singer & musician who along with The Reese Boyd Project sings and plays bass for: The Spirit of Rush (Rush tribute), Uncle Don's Bullet Proof Blues Band, The Nephews and The Distant Cousins.
