David Scott Brown / Bio

David sings the music of The Great American Songbook. These enduring songs from the 1920s through the 1950s make up the canon of the most important and most influential American popular songs of the 20th century – principally from Broadway theatre, musical theatre, and Hollywood musical film. Known for his warm, robust, lyrical singing, David began his solo musical career as a singing guitarist in a bed-and-breakfast in Tennessee, and he has years of experience as a choral singer. While living overseas for thirteen years, David performed in various countries, including Germany, England, Scotland, and Ireland.

A singer with eclectic tastes, David now covers the music of Sinatra, Nat King Cole, Elvis, Johnny Cash, The Everly Brothers, Buddy Holly, Simon & Garfunkel, and many more. In addition to the fifties rockabilly that he accompanies on guitar, in the past few years he has developed a repertoire of 200+ songs on piano from The Great American Songbook, and he also has a Bossa Nova repertoire that came from lessons with the wonderful Brazilian guitarist Marcos Saback.

In a world that seems ever to look for louder and grittier sounds, David offers a playlist characterized by subtlety and nuance, evoking the happier and sometimes more innocent sounds of the music of our parents and grandparents. David has a unique and special sound. So do yourself a favor, and book David for your venue or your next special event.

" Die US-Generalkonsulin Jo Ellen Powell hält inne, als David Scott Brown gegen 7.30 Uhr ans Mikrofon tritt und das Lied «Amerika, Amerika» anstimmt. Zum ersten Mal seit rund zehn Stunden ist es fast still im geschmückten Ballsaal des Westin Grand Hotels an der Konstablerwache.
