John Gorka w/Antje Duvekot Rolling Stone called him "the preeminent male singer/songwriter of the new folk movement." His soulful baritone and rich, multi-faceted songs have made him a favorite among critics and audiences across the country. Gorka's songs range from intimate confessionals of love and loss to humorous observations about daily life in his neighborhood; from poignant commentary on political moods to exuberant explosions of joy. Many well-known artists have recorded and/or performed John Gorka songs, including Mary Chapin Carpenter, Nanci Griffith, Mary Black and Maura O'Connell.John honed his craft in the Northeastern folk scene while attending Moravian College in Bethlehem, Penn., studying history and philosophy. In 1986, he began performing at a local coffee house venue, Godfrey Daniels, a place he returns often. Now with his 11th studio album, he returns to his roots with So Dark You See, his most traditional album to date.Antje DuvekotBlending uncommonly beautiful vocals with one of the sharpest poetic sensibilities in her field, Antje Duvekot has a remarkable ability to make us believe she is whispering secrets in our ear. New Siberia is her third studio album, again produced by folk legend Richard Shindell. The cinematic ensemble sound showcases Duvekot's bold, sure-footed path through emotional terrain most artists dare not even enter.
