Acoustic Barn Show! Yeeehaw! T.T.P. Acoustic Stage Sun 10/13 2:30 - 3:15
“Angel” Pam West returns to perform her first gig in New York City in seven years. She will perform one solo acoustic set with some possible special guest performers on Saturday, March 2nd, 9:45 pm as part of the David vs. Goliath Music Series at the Shanghai Rock Hotel, 108 W. 39th Street (6th Ave). She plans on a mixture of originals with cover interpretations of Joni Mitchell, Led Zeppelin, Traffic, and others. There is a $10 cover charge at the door. The virtuoso multi-instrumentalist from Cleveland gave her first NYC performances at CBGB’s and The Red Lion on Bleecker Street in the late 1990’s. In 2000, she moved to the city and within the year, she was performing solo and with bands on radio, television, at music industry showcases, and clubs around the Village, Brooklyn, the Jersey Shore, and eventually the Hard Rock Café and BB Kings with prodigy guitarist Matthew Curran. After the events of 9/11, however, Pam began to focus her sights on education, music healing, and community music. She performed regularly as a volunteer with Musicians On Call, began work in early childhood music education through Music Together® and eventually found her way into performing at the United Nations as a guest of Non-Government Organizations during their fundraisers. She spent the summer of 2004 performing and recording in Vienna, Austria at the invite of an Austrian cultural director she met while performing in the subways of New York. After returning from Europe, she moved to the Catskill Mountains near Woodstock, New York where she met her current husband, Theodore Finkle. Pam took a baby sabbatical and then a K-12 public school music teaching job for five years. During that time, she recorded a children’s album called Unicorn Crossing that won a Parents Choice Award. In 2011, she left public schools and opened her own community music center, The Community Music & Arts Network (www.communitymusicnetwork.com), serving her rural community with all ages, all access music programs, including a summer rock camp for teens. She also received her Masters degree in Music in May of 2012. Pam continues to perform in the Catskills region as a solo artist and with her husband in a folk-rock duo called Diviner, but has plans to begin touring again later this year. She’s also a radio show host on 91.3 FM WIOX Roxbury. Pam’s West music is raw, heartfelt, genuine, poignant, and passionate, and despite her commercial obscurity, she has received rave reviews internationally and among music circles. Reportedly, both Jimmy Page and Robert Plant of Led Zeppelin have personally complimented her music in separate occasions, years, and continents. Steve Bornstein of Mixx Magazine once said "Her lyrics are suffused with earnestness, tempered by wry wit…and she does like to rock out.” Cleveland’s Scene Magazine described her music as “creative, artsy stuff delivered as deeply symbolic and meaningful brainfood.” In a live review, a critic wrote “the electricity you get when you're actually in the room with this woman is incredible. She's very engaging and actually quite funny with her in between song banter. If she comes to your neck of the woods, go see her, you will not be sorry.” Angel Pam West’s music can be found at www.cdbaby.com/angelpamwest, on You Tube, itunes, and Reverb Nation.
