“Adam Levine was the only coach to turn his chair for Amber Carrington during the Blind Auditions and predicted she would be one of the biggest surprises of this competition. He was right, and gave her the ultimate praise after she sang the Maroon 5 song, "Sad" Monday. The fact that you sat here and sang it better than I did ... makes me so happy," Levine gushed.
“LOS ANGELES – Truly a star was born tonight – a major recording star – as Rockwall’s Amber Carrington delivered an absolutely brilliant performance of Adele’s Grammy Award-winning hit, “Skyfall,” on NBC-TV’s “The Voice” singing competition.
Singing last again of the final 8 performers, the 19-year-old’s powerful performance so impressed the judges that Blake Shelton called it the “Diva-Powerhouse Vocal of the Night.” Usher kiddingly praised her by saying, “Adele, I mean Amber….” And her Team Adam captain, Adam Levine, raised both arms jubilantly as she concluded, shouting, “Incredible!” He added that, tonight, Amber proved she can sing anything; and while she still may have a little country in her voice, there are many countries in the world and Amber could be successful in all of them.

While it’s been said by many that Amber has one of the top voices among the final 8 performers, tonight”
“Blake Shelton called it “the diva powerhouse vocal of the night”, but told Adam that Amber’s still a country singer. Shakira acknowledged that covering Adele didn’t always work, but Amber’s version was a winner. Adam told Blake that Amber could go worldwide, then to Amber he said that “in the entire history of this show, nobody has done an Adele show and done it justice”. That certainly changed tonight.”
In dedication to her best friends, Amber Carrington took on Katy Perry's most vocally ambitious song, "Firework" (and got a piece of good luck from Perry beforehand as well). Shakira commended her for performing the "nightmare song" well, and Shelton praised her versatility beyond the country genre. In dedication to her family and friends, Carrington sang Maroon 5's "Sad" which was written by Levine and his guitarist, James Valentine. "The fact that you can make one of Adam's songs that beautiful, that's doing something!" teased Shelton. "I can't wait to buy your record."
“The first time I saw this performance, I wasn’t THAT impressed. Yeah, she sang it well, but I hated the idea of covering such a massive, operatic Adele song. But upon further inspection, I learned to truly appreciate Amber’s remarkable voice.”
“Amber took this song from her coach’s band and once again used her tremendous vocal range to transform it into something great.”
“Amber, whose vocal on this Rihanna song during the Live Playoffs was positively stunning. Her range and precision was haunting and spot-on, proving that she had the best voice of the season, as far as I’m concerned.”
