AMARAVATI, WHO ARE THEY?
Amaravati's style can be described as, "INSPIRING ", "TOUCHING", and "ALIVE".
Taxi.com describes “Sound of the Heart” and “Waking Dream” from the album “Mesa (2008)” as “...a striking set of recordings... the vocal's soaring performance along with the warm and all enveloping production of the backing add up to fine pieces of music.”
Laura Kay (Lead Vocalist, Clarinet)
Hailing from Markham, Ontario, Laura Kay is a classically trained musician. Specializing in the vocals and the clarinet, she has performed at many venues domestically and internationally, including New York's prestigious Carnegie Hall. Vocally she is an intuitive soprano who delights in the exploration and creation of new and inventive musical ideas. She believes that music is a powerful catalyst for healing and she uses her vocal performances with the intention of conveying light, love and hope to all those who listen. For her, music is a path to self-discovery as well as a means to connect with humanity on a fundamental level.
Jason Pietowski (Arrangement, Piano, Guitar)
Jason Pietowski is a curious musician and his knowledge is widespread. His purpose is to relay deeply soul-moving soundscapes through the use of sound, infusing harmony with tranquil cleverness. Producing music in his own studio for several years, Jason discovered intriguing techniques in weaving sound in novel ways, often pushing the limits of the senses. His intention is to oscillate and transition between dark, subtle textures and wild, adventurous grooves.
Owning a wide variety of instruments from almost every continent, he has a long history and extensive understanding of fusion between sounds from differing backgrounds. He has been experimenting with recorded sound since opening his first studio, and his knowledge of recording processes allow him to capture the subtle tones that enhance the substance of his albums. Jay develops his music from a place of creativity without limitation, often seeking soulful moments of self-expression through the fabric of deeply tranquilizing, and subliminal improvisation.
