Q: What is the story behind "Just as I Breathe"?
A: 'Just As I Breathe' was written for a very dear friend of mine after he passed away. He was an inspiring teacher to all of us who had the pleasure of knowing him. The lyrics start out with a memory of him, and then the raw emotion of losing someone like that, and then about trying to take his lessons and apply them to coping with his loss. When I'd get stressed out or worked up over something he'd always remind me to breathe.
