More about Wesley Woo: http://www.WesleyWooMusic.com/ http://www.facebook.com/WesleyWooMusic Some songwriters and musicians are naturally gifted artists and performers, born with a golden voice, inspired to song by every moment. San Francisco native Wesley Woo is not one of these songwriters. Instead, what you find in his performances today is the product of countless hours of practice, dedication, and brutal determination toward a single goal; write and share as much music as possible. Wesley is an award winning singer, songwriter, and guitarist with roots in Motown, Blues, and Alt. Rock. His songs sound somewhere between The Temptations, Stevie Ray Vaughn, and Nine Days, although this is constantly subject to change. He was awarded "Best Song of the Year" by the West Coast Songwriters SF chapter in 2013 for his song "Stay," which released with his 2014 album "Do Re Mi" on April 4th at the Lost Church in San Francisco. Here's the Deets: Where: Corner of Echo Park Ave. and Avalon Ave, Los Angeles When: 7:30PM-10PM ---More about Peter:--- Peter Su is a songwriter-producer based in Echo Park, Los Angeles - on a mission to bring harmony to the world. On a diaphanous night, his songs may sound akin to Leonard Cohen singing with the Beach Boys. He is currently writing a new batch of material for his EP and has performed at various LA venues including The Cork Lounge, The Dresden, The Parlor, Fox and Hounds, Pig N' Whistle, and Room 5. Visit http://www.WesleyWooMusic.com/ for more details. ---More about Gyasi:--- https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=BTWf81Y7C04&list=UUBtI_YcRUJZBcuVUu7V79Xg In Pasadena California, in a smoke filled room with high school gangsters, musicians and poets, Gyasi idolized his brother and his friends as they created music in a circle, called a cipher. Emulating a fly on the wall, he desperately wanted to participate and join the hip-hop/funk inspired musical collaborations. Although he had the passion for creating music, Gyasi felt that he did not know how and that his voice didn’t move or sound the way his brother and his friends did and he nearly gave up. Tricked into joining the marching band in high school by a friend who cleverly requested him to come up to school and hold some instruments for him, Gyasi found himself intrigued by the endless possibilities that lay at his feet. He went to a predominantly African-American school and most students did not play music, so the band director did all he could to make the marching band look full. Never one to embrace the fear of trying, he decided that he was not going to “play the part” of a band member, he would actually become one. So he started taking Jazz Trumpet lessons from Nolan Shaeed, an amazing trumpet player who served as the musical director for Marvin Gaye in the 1970s. During his junior year in high school, Gyasi became frustrated with playing the trumpet because he found out one could only play it for about an hour and a half before your lips got tired, so he opted to transition to developing the skill for playing the guitar. He began taking lessons from Gary Bell, a former guitarist from The Tonight Show. Fast forward a few years and a few paths later, Gyasi has become an accomplished Acoustic-Hip Hop guitarist, singer/song writer who has earned his degree in Jazz Guitar and World Music from San Francisco State University. Gyasi has collaborated and played with a number of notable musicians in the bay area including; The Park, Denizen Kane of the Typical Cats, and Bret Dennen who was the opening performer for John Mayer. Influenced by John legend, John Mayer, Jason Mraz, The Roots (Black Thought), Dashboard Confessionals, Ella Fitzgerald, Joe Pass, and John Coltrane, Gyasi has used his musical inspirations to continuously remind him to keep his passion for music renewed and innovative. Soon to be releasing his first solo acoustic album, “By Any Means”, Gyasi will feature the struggle and the love of getting to this point on his musical journey. Believing that music is his therapy, Gyasi loves to create and share his music to be an outlet and inspiration not only to himself but to others as well. Even though he is far from the smoke-filled room where his humble beginnings began, hip-hop music still lives in him and his music.
