Well thanks to Michael Glasser and Joie Rucker, this dream is about to come true.
The collection launched in select high-end boutiques and department stores in late November of 2006, Rich and Skinny is an exciting new collection created to fill a void in the denim market. Rich and Skinny is a partnership between Michael Glasser, founder of denim heavyweights Seven For All Mankind and later, Citizen of Humanity and Designer Joie Rucker, former owner of the wildly successful brand Joie. Glasser’s hands on experience, coupled with his comprehensive business and retail experience along with Rucker’s design sensibility has helped secure the team’s success in their new business venture.
After studying the market and trends, Glasser found the denim market to be stagnant and later came across a unique new European denim that blended cotton with Lycra Spandex and hence, the idea to create a new denim line was formed. Besides its incredible fabric, Rich and Skinny is also known for their incredibly sexy yet comfortable fits. Rich and Skinny offer 14 styles ranging from basic straight leg names Sleek, a high wasted clean front legging called Leggy, a slight boot-cut called Rich and a high-waist, wide leg jean called Lanky. These are just a few key silhouettes: however Rich and Skinny also offers more novel styles such as a miniskirt called Dishy to a fitted knee length short named Saucy. What further sets rich and Skinny apart from all other denim brands is its color palette; offering customers the choice to wear Fire Red, Peacock Blue, Emerald Green and R&S Purple along with some more subtle colors such as Black, White, and a fantastic array of denim colors. Other exciting details are their buttons that we’re inspired by a vintage Cartier men’s cufflink that are rose gold in color and the inside trim and pocketing that is silk lined and rich purple velvet label; all add to the beauty and richness of this new incredible line.
