About
Pogrom is General Blaspheme. Started in the Armpit of Alberta, then moved to the City of Champions, Pogrom is my source of creative freedom, my way to express myself and my emotions and thoughts. At first it was just me and my bass ("Leaves") then I started to add guitar (the WON demo) and now some songs are featuring drum programming as well (upcoming splits and The Wolf in the Fog album).
Originally wanting to pay homage to the black metal of the 1990's, I quickly found a sound that I feel is fresh and original. One can hear my Darkthrone influences, as I wear them on my sleeve quite visibly. But If you listen carefully you might catch hints of 80's goth like The Cure or Joy Division, and in some cases a death metal influence as well. On one track in particular from WON, "Betrayal/Denial" you can hear some metalcore-like influence in the way I scream.
It is these reasons together that I chose to brand my music as Impure Canadian Black Metal, as it is nowhere near the "trve kvlt" sound of old black metal. In fact, I'm sure some people would try to say that it's not black metal at all. But those people can suck my bass.
Also, lately, I have been channeling my efforts into Funeral Rain Zine, and to a very minor extent Funeral Rain Records. You should check out the zine, which is not in print yet, but just online, by clicking here.
