Houston, Texas - Phyllis A. Travis retired from the insurance industry in 2001 and now composes music, tends to dreams & writes poetry while working as both an attorney & legal consultant. Phyllis earned her JD from New England School of Law in Boston and her BA from the University of Houston. A life-time Episcopalian, she also earned her Certificate in Theological Studies from Church Divinity School of the Pacific in Berkeley, California.

“LOS ANGELES (November 1, 2010) – The journey to the road of equality in the music industry for
LGBT artists began today when nominations for the 2010 Annual OUTMUSIC Awards
(www.outmusicawards.com) were announced at a press conference attended by national and international
media at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hill, Calif. Comedians Julia Goldman and Jonny McGovern as well as classical pipe organist T. Desiree Hines
made appearances at the press conference addressing attendees on the importance of organizations like
OUTMUSIC in the fight for equality in the music industry. The foundation also announced it has
selected American Idol contestant RJ Helton’s song “Blessing” as it theme song for this year’s awards.
