“Winds and Walls is a Queens, NY based Indie Band that specializes in a unique electronic sound.”
“WINDS & WALLS MAKES NO ATTEMPT TO CONFORM TO THESE MARKET TASTES AND TRENDS— AND THIS IS PRECISELY WHAT MAKES THEM SUCH A RESPECTABLE AND REMARKABLE ACT.”
“From deep to psychedelic-like soundscapes this twelve song album will take you on a wave of a journey into the world of Winds & Walls - truly terrific work.”
“If this track ("Where I Am") is any indication on the quality of musicianship and songwriting on the new releases, then it’s something I will be looking forward to.”
“Pennies immediately kicks things off with a bold guitar melody that brings forth elements of grunge and rock which teams up with some angelic sounding guitar chords which set up a lovely backdrop for frontwoman Rosie Pacla’s wonderful vocals. Winds and Walls work this strong beginning into a track that boasts a huge instrumental full of chords, harmonies and all sorts of different sections to keep it sounding fresh and always on the move. It’s great.”
“Winds and Walls, the rising band hailing from New York City, has all of the hallmarks of what a successful pop rock band should sound like.”
“Pop/rock band Winds & Walls just released their brand new single, “My Eyes.” The single is a stunning, building instrumentation that will leave listeners breathless. With a haunting tone, and catchy refrain, the track is irresistible. The more I listen to it, the more I wish Winds & Walls would just go on tour with DIVIDES.”
“Winds & Walls, named after a song Rosie has composed, really sound like no one else out there. The only comparisons (and they are pale ones at that) I can think of is either a heavier, guitar-driven, less poppy Go Go’s, or Silversun Pickups with a female vocalist. I told you; it’s tough to nail down their sound. All I can say, it is a tremendous, addictive sound. I love it. I am now an official Winds & Walls addict.”
““Pharmacist”/”rock star” is a helluva dichotomy, but Rosie Pacla makes this unlikely career combo work. After all, it takes quite a bit of conviction to get a doctoral degree in six years, so adding on writing and performing duties is a natural extension of that internal drive. Along with friends Lawrence Turco, Andrew Reyes, Quentin Carver, and her younger brother Joey, Pacla makes music with heft and stakes; everything is personal, but in the best way.”
“One of the most unique pack of rockers we’ve ever interviewed, NYC’s Winds & Walls (Rosie Pacla, Joseph Pacla, Lawrence Turco, Andrew Reyes, Quentin Carver) is an indie-pop-alt-rock outfit that’s damn near as professional in their off-the-stage lives as they are on the stage, bringing together a complicated mix of sounds that’s smooth like butta.”
“One of the beautiful things about being a fan of post-hardcore is that it's a genre with a lot of room to explore a host of sounds. The Devil & God Are Raging Inside Me by post-hardcore/pop punk icons Brand New fuses acoustic songwriting with walls of reverbed out guitar noise and Jesse Lacey's wail to create a sound that is atmospheric and distinct. Nirvana are "grunge" but there are tracks on Nevermind that have more in common with Dinosaur Jr. and Husker Du than grunge's traditional welding of pop hooks with punk guitar riffs (and reverb...so much reverb). And on their track "Pennies, New York post hardcore indie rockers Winds & Walls let their heavier roots take a back seat to an almost folksy, poppier sound while still hinting at the edges and intensity just around the corner.”
“New York’s Winds and Walls have a rather interesting story what with having pharmacist, Rosie Pacla as their lead singer, earning herself a doctorate at the age of 23. Impressive indeed, however it looks like Pacla’s future path involves music more than prescription drugs.”
“Indie-pop act from New York. Catchy lyrics and super sweet music.”
“From what I’m hearing here, and knowing what works out there in music today, it shouldn’t be any tougher for this band to get signed than to simply walk into the office of a record-label of their choosing, sit down, maybe a handshake and a cookie or two, and then ask where they’re supposed to sign. Truly, no BS whatsoever, if you’re a fan of the sounds I’m describing or a fan in general of powerhouse singers, Winds & Walls are that good and clearly that ready for the next step wherever that may lead them.”
“[INTERVIEW] For the remainder of 2015, we’re working on our third EP, “The Hollow Sessions” which will be a sort of acoustic EP with a twist. Some songs will be reprises of the old material, and there may be 1 or 2 new songs with a different sound. We also have shooting our third music video for the song, “My Eyes” to look forward to in August. As well as performing at the Bowery Electric in Manhattan and at the Fifth Estate in Brooklyn. We plan on releasing the third EP toward the end of the year.”
“INTERVIEW: What was it like to work with Rob Freeman and how did that relationship develop? --- Working with Rob Freeman is quite the experience. He’s been more of a mentor to us in the recording process since he’s really the only producer we’ve worked with. We’ve learned a lot from him and he pushes us in our development as recording artists. Working with him is sort of a tough-love experience because he’s such a good guy and is passionate about music.”
"The proof is in the numbers with W+W, ranking among the Top 25 NYC bands in the Alternative category on Reverbnation, which is no easy feat when you're in the 2nd largest music market in the U.S."
