Bio: For more than 120 years, the Cato Hotel has been a gathering place for locals and travelers. Stewart Lang, a late Cato businessman, remembered the hotel's early days in 100 Years of Cato And Then Some, a book celebrating the village's centennial. He recalled Horse Jockey Day as, A carnival when the hotel did a thriving business, as many inebriates and country characters would bring in their 'old wrecks and hat racks of animals' called horses to swap. One man traded horses five times and went home with the one he came with, as he was so under the influence that he didn't know the difference, but was satisfied he had made a good deal. Flash forward to the 1970s when go-go girls made the place go, said Don LaRoe, a regular at the bar for 45 years, who was enjoying a cold beer Tuesday afternoon. The tradition will continue with Donnie Post taking over the hotel . With good things to come !!
