Award-winning Hammond organist/keyboardist Vel Lewis is an American contemporary jazz recording artist, composer, producer, arranger, and multi-instrumentalist whose signature blend of melody, groove, and soulful musicianship has earned international recognition. His current single, "Smoovee" featuring acclaimed saxophonist Marion Meadows, continues to receive worldwide radio airplay while charting on the Smooth Jazz Network Top 100, Mediabase Smooth Jazz, RadioWave Monitor Groove Jazz 100, and Top 100 radio station charts throughout Europe.
Lewis' career includes being signed to Philadelphia International Records as a member of The Futures, performing with The Delfonics while vocalist Major Harris ("Love Won't Let Me Wait") was a member of the group, and touring internationally for three years with legendary vocalist Dionne Warwick. He has also shared concert stages with Earth, Wind & Fire, Parliament/Funkadelic, Al Green, The Stylistics, Frankie Beverly & Maze, and many other legendary artists.
As a composer and producer, Lewis' music has appeared in television favorites including The Sopranos, Friends, Mad About You, and other productions. His previous contemporary jazz releases—including "Song For My Love," "Forever More" (featuring Larry Braggs), "PlayTyme," and "Bossaflowz"—have earned international radio support and chart success.
In 2024, Lewis received the Best Jazz Male Performer Award from the Black Music Association & Academy of America (Houston Chapter). His music is available on all major streaming platforms.
