Meet the Band
Vern Nickerson – Guitar & Vocals
Band leader and principal songwriter Vern Nickerson is best known as the frontman and songwriter for Breach the Asylum since 2010. While that band continues to perform, Vern’s drive to connect with audiences has inspired this new project, set to hit the road in 2026. His songwriting remains rooted in raw storytelling and fearless exploration of any subject.
Vern is a seasoned performer who has shared stages with legends across genres, including Warrant, Tyketto, Enuff Z’ Nuff, King’s X, Nonpoint, Overkill, Ace Frehley, Joan Jett, Leslie West, Smile Empty Soul, Liliac, Richie Scarlet, and many more. He also played bass for Frail, whose album Watching You Fall remains available on all streaming platforms.
David J. Bereznak Jr. – Drums & Backing Vocals
A defining difference in this new project is the addition of another seasoned veteran songwriter/musician...David J. Bereznak Jr. on drums and backing vocals. His extensive complex resume allows him to approach song development and arrangement with the mindset of a songwriter, adding an extra depth and dimension to the creative process. Also, with years of singing experience his dynamic backing vocals help to further elevate the band’s unique yet comfortably familiar sound.
Laura Nickerson – Bass
The band’s “wild card,” Laura Nickerson, brings a fresh energy to original music. Married to Vern since 2001, Laura has long been a fixture in the rock scene as a supporter and merch coordinator. After honing her skills at School of Rock and performing with cover bands—including The Mighty Remains, where she continues to play, Laura now steps into the spotlight. Her bass work is integral to the band’s identity, with several songs driven by her powerful lines.
Greg Enkler - Guitar.
Greg and Vern have been lifelong friends. He is also the bass player in Breach the Asylum. This new venture puts him on 6 strings instead of four. His skill is always as a color man in the writing room. Every band needs an Izzy Stradlin-type. Playing melodic lines behind the power chords. He has the most tour experience in the band as the bass player for a few projects including Powderburn (Austin TX). He may have a new role, but still the same drive.
What’s Next
Trust Fund Rejects is a straightforward rock band with a mission to deliver music that resonates. Their debut EP, Shadows of the Past, is currently in production and will honor the rock heroes who have left us. Tracking began in Late November 2025. The first single "P.O.N.Y." is out as of February 2026 with a music video soon to follow.
While the members are NOT new to all this Rock N Roll - This is a brand-new band with brand-new music. They’re ready to make their mark.
