Please Welcome "Tooty and the Mother Plucker"; Barbara and Rafael Picon's latest and greatest live performances. This electro-acoustic duo sings and plays a mix of Classic Rock, Pop,Jazz, Motown, Latin and R&B on Flamenco guitar, Flute, synthesizer with Vocal leads and harmonies. The arrangements are creatively crafted producing a fresh make- over of classic feel-good songs. While Tooty and the Mother Plucker recently made their debut to the live music scene in the form of a Duo, they certainly are not new to the music industry. Traveling across equators and Continents, they have toured and headlined with their own band " New York Strut" to deliver a most precious commodity ...American music ! Several tours to Europe, the Far East including Japan, China, North Africa and Turkey resulted in a commission from the US government. The band was granted GS12 status to perform and entertain our servicemen and women at numerous military installations; from the base of Mount Fuji in Japan, to the remote tiny island of Diego Garcia on the equator in the Indian Ocean and landing deck-side on the iconic Nuclear Aircraft Carrier USS.Nimitz stationed in the Mediterranean Sea. After extensive globe-trotting, Barbara and Rafael settled in Nassau County, Long Island to launch a new music chapter; The creation and leadership of Uptown Orchestra; a dynamic 10 piece Orchestra. Clients and venues include Reebok, Revlon,American Heart Foundation,Parish Art Museum , Regis and Kathy Valentine Special shows, Taj Mahal casino; Atlantic City, Mohegan Sun Casino CT, Windows of the World (Twin Towers), The Rainbow Room, Cipriani's, Museum of Natural History, The Intrepid; to name drop a few ! During this period, Rafael and Barbara also worked as music producers at Power Play Recording Studios in LIC NY. They produced dance tracks for many aspiring artists however it was their writing and performing on MCA Label "Busy Town" that got worldwide notoriety. Based on Richard Scarry's children's book Busy Town, Barbara and Rafael created all the character voices as well as the music and lyrics. Barbara earned credit for performing on Tom Browne’s #1 RnB Charted 'Love Approach" (Funkin for Jamaica) album. After taking a year hiatus, Barb and Rafael have returned and are back in rare form once again to perform for you at public concert ,dining and live music venues.
