“3 Miles From Texas is a musical collective lead by south side Brisbane guitarist Robbie Stewart. A well packaged and slow paced offering the most creditable aspects of the album are clearly the song craft and vocal performances of Tony Mockeridge and Michael Tully. The opener is Mockeridge’s lazy tropical idyll ‘The Island (Slow Dance In The Sun)’ with its neo-traditional country lilt evoking things south of the border. Tully’s ‘Sunshine’ is a sweet piece of folk rock propelled by a clutch of well-blended guitars and a lush chorus. One thing not in short supply is variety with the doo-wop styled ‘Warm Southern Nights’ and the blues anthem ‘Oaktree Blues’ bearing this out. ‘Rumour Of War’ couldn’t have been a better choice for a closing statement.”
