“Toni Dodd & Southbound Blues” are a dynamic group of musicians who have created a very unique and original Blues sound. Since 1996 Southbound Blues have been creating their own brand of Southern California Blues from major events to backyard parties playing the Blues for the people. They have pioneered a sound that they can definitely call their own. They play a well blended mix from time tested Blues, R&B, Swing, Jump Blues, Texas Boogie, and Second Line to their own brand of well-crafted original material.
In 2025 Toni Dodd & Southbound Blues were chosen to compete in The International Blues Challenge in Memphis 2026. In September 2019 Toni Dodd received The Living Blues Legend Award given by the Living Legend Foundation who honors Living Jazz & Blues artist’s contributions while they are alive. The foundation feels that if a person has dedicated 25+ years of their life to Blues or Jazz, then that is Legendary and needs to be celebrated.
Toni Dodd & Southbound Blues has performed nationally and internationally. They are currently performing throughout California and various states. They have played on the great stages and venues like The Saban Theater, The Canyon Club, B.B. Kings’ and the House Of Blues. They have also appeared on various local television shows as well as live radio and Internet broadcasts.
Southbound Blues has opened for many stars like John Mayall, Robben Ford, Coco Montoya, Walter Trout, The Little River Band, Joe Houston, Eric Burdon, Tommy Castro and Marcia Ball just to name a few. In 2014 they were highlighted numerous times with “Gary The Wagman” on “Nothing But The Blues”. Th Wagman featured Toni Dodd & Southbound Blues on their 2021 Indie Blues Artists and CD Compilation. They have also been guests on “Ann The Raven's” Blues show.
Their CD “Too Much Car For The Road” was chosen in 2012 as the best self produced album and was entered in The International Blues Challenge by The Santa Clarita Valley Blues Society for 2013. The CD was chosen as one of the best top twenty self produced albums in the world by the International Blues Challenge affiliates. In 2010 Southbound Blues was chosen by the Santa Clarita Valley Blues Society to represent them in the 2011 International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee. In 2008 “Rock City News” chose “Toni Dodd & Southbound Blues” as the best Blues Band in Los Angeles. They are charter members of the “Santa Clarita Valley Blues Society” and were chosen to compete in the International Blues Challenge in Memphis, Tennessee, 2004. They were also named one of the top ten Blues bands by LA Rock Wars in 2000.
They have devoted their time and performed for many events for Special Olympics, Cruelty to Animals, Babies With Aids, Cancer Walks, abused women and any musician who needs a helping hand.
