Tino Martinez is an award-winning tenor saxophonist and bandleader whose sound is as wide as his journey. Rooted in jazz but fluent in neo-soul, reggae, ska, punk rock, and classical saxophone, Tino brings a rare versatility to everything he does.
His musical foundation runs deep. He honed his craft at Southern University in Baton Rouge, Louisiana, performing with the legendary Human Jukebox Marching Band, and later earned his Jazz Certification through the Berklee School of Music. Before committing fully to music, he spent over a decade as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist and toured across Texas, Louisiana, Colorado, and California with Houston-based reggae ensemble IDIGINIS — a road education that shaped his instinct for connecting with audiences.
Now firmly rooted in Bermuda, Tino has become one of the island's most important musical figures. He founded the Jazz in the Park series and the annual Juneteenth jazz celebration, and has shared the stage with Grammy Award-winning artist Avery Sunshine. His quartet TMQ was named Best Musical Group in Bermuda in 2024, and he was honored with the prestigious Best of Bermuda Award in 2022.
Through performance, education, and community, Tino Martinez carries the torch for jazz in Bermuda — while always finding new ways to keep the flame burning.
