“Despite a deep set of opening acts and the usual mild mannered Toronto crowd GZA, rocked the Sound Academy. Opening for GZA (and what a difficult task that must have been!!!) were The WILDcore, Skratch Bastid, and Shing Shing Regime. The WILDcore started the evening and were an interesting mix of live instruments, some DJing and MC’s. Glad that they were not the horrible rap metal of the 90′s. They seemed to blend break beats and mixed them with interesting pop/rock/even pop punk edginess.”

“Ottawa emcees Infiltrate The Toronto Punk Scene with Wildcore. MC's Smoke Doubt Jace and Hex are by no means new to the Canadian Hiphop scene. Coming up in Ottawa, the two joined forces and quickly became frustrated with what the city had to offer. Despite expanding their roles to also encompass DJ, producer, and promoter, Ottawa proved disinterested in opening its mind to their music and unique style.Though their path was and still is a hard one, they’re not looking for sympathy or handouts, they’re more about doing things on their own. With that philosophy and the sage advice of Prodigal Sunn (Sunz of Man), Jace and Hex relocated to Toronto where they completely revamped their sound by taking on a live band & have since worked with the aforementioned Prodigal Sunn, Beretta9 and can be heard alongside KRS-One on their upcoming Raw EP. I caught up with them the same night they opened for GZA in Toronto, where we talked about their stylistic shift as well as their thoughts on Hip Ho”
