The Spampinato Brothers (ex NRBQ) / Press

“The Spampinato Brothers used to be half of NRBQ, which is now notable because keyboardist Terry Adams is currently touring under the name NRBQ with just one former member (him). NRBQ drummer Tommy Ardolini passed away in January. As Adams' new NRBQ is making the rounds, so is Joey and Johnny Spampinato's band, the Spampinato Brothers. They are a bit ahead of the curve, having already released a CD, "Pie In The Sky," last year. For the uninitiated, NRBQ was formed way back in 1967 and is known for its spontaneous and sometimes wacky shows, never working with a set list. They've played in their pajamas, once hired a professional wrestler to be their manager and collaborated with the late, great Carl Perkins, and while never achieving mainstream or chart success, they certainly are the favorite band of many folks with their good time rock 'n' roll. One of NRBQ's finest moments was the song "Spampinato" as they spelled out "S-P-A-M-I-N-A-T-O" with the requisite audience participation.”
