We began in Austin, Texas in early 2005. It's hard to believe that, all of these years later, it's still exciting to get on stage and jump around like we did when we first started.
Because our music is traditional stripped down punk rock and roll, we're able to focus more on giving the audience an experience that they won't soon forget. Is it possible to be loose and tight at the same time? We think so. The performance is always tight and our presence is loose and fun, so what you get is a relentless, fearless, and focused rock and roll show that fits with any rock, punk, or rockabilly type of band.
We like to think of our show as an antidepressant. Nothing makes us feel better than fans coming up to us after our set and offering words of encouragement and appreciation. It pushes us forward and in return, we try to give everything that we've got back to the fans in one form or another.
Here's a little background: In 2008, we self released Dive Bar Deluxe, and introduced the band to audiences outside of Texas. Cuts from that album can be heard on two indie films, including one that featured Shakey Graves as the bassist and an award winning Hollywood actor as the drummer for The Scary Mondelos. We actually got to play ourselves in a movie about two brothers that just happened to be in the band. How cool is that?
After that, we sent “Dive Bar” to Kevin Lyman, the founder of the Van’s Warped Tour, in 2009 and he personally called and invited us to play on his Kevin Says Stage which was the second biggest stage on the tour, next to the main stage. This gave us a shot in the arm and a little more street cred with people that didn't know us. Alternative Press Magazine named the us as one of the bands to watch on the 2010 Warped Tour and we couldn't have been more thrilled. They even quoted us directly in their article.
The next few years saw us streamlining our shows into fewer, but bigger events, mostly festivals, benefits and direct support for touring artists. We hit the stage with bands like Swingin’ Utters, Nekromantix, Far From Finished, Three Bad Jacks, Koffin Kats and too many others to list, although we wish we could. We were the "go-to" band for a lot of venues because they knew what they were getting with us. We would set up quick, do our thing, then get off the stage as fast as possible. No fuss, no muss, and absolutely no drama. Booking agents and venues seemed to love that. For us, it meant reaching a big audience and being able to get advice from some influential punk icons.
2018 has moved us to San Antonio. New band members and a plan of attack that includes a self produced "behind the scenes" TV show that will air on all major providers in the area, starting in October. It's a lot of work, but we honestly couldn't think of a better way to introduce ourselves to the city all at once. Plus, we get to collaborate with local stand up comics, explore all of the weird places around town, and feature the people that keep the music scene alive... Venues, Bands, and the fans!
