MAD RAPPER PROJECT and Quentin Gibeau announce a call for entries for PROTEST THROUGH ART hosted by BrickHaus Artspace PROTEST THRU ART will be an exhibition that aims to celebrate and exemplify the union of political protest and the artistic process/product. The exhibition builds on the tradition of using art as a method of organizing within the larger community, and visualizing the possibilities for a more fair future. Protest Thru Art takes inspiration from protest posters and agitprop from such groups as the Students for a Democratic Society and The Black Panthers, to street art such as Banksy, as well as performance activist theater such as the Yes Men. PROTEST THRU ART seeks any and all work that challenges the status quo and the injustices of our society. Application Guidelines Protest Thru Art welcomes work such as posters, installation, puppets, sculpture, photography and documentation of socially concerned performances and installations, as well as documentation of protests or protest art in action. All work should be submitted to firstname.lastname@example.org by August 25th. For online submissions All work/documentation submitted online must be max 300 dpi jpg. Subject line should read Yourname_ProtestThruArt. In addition, please detail the titles and descriptions of each work submitted in the body of the email. For physical submissions For Artists who lack online access, work can be dropped off on August 25th at BrickHaus between the hours of 9am and 6pm. Work not selected can be picked up on August 31st. BrickHaus is located at 2602 Greenmount Ave, Baltimore MD, 21218. Selection Process Works will be selected and artists will be notified by August 31st. Show will open on September 7th until September 26th, with special events and performances on September 17th. All unselected work unclaimed by September 5th will be considered a donation.
