Formed in 1989 by front-man Kevin “Max” Wisniewski, Max & the Invaders are a 7-piece powerhouse band that has been writing original music and performing for over 3 decades, receiving 4 of Wisconsin’s prestigious WAMI awards! They are 3rd wave Ska icons known worldwide, with six full-length albums, a vinyl EP and their songs on over 24 album compilations! They are the most recognizable and longest running Ska/Reggae band ever to emerge from Milwaukee and Wisconsin. Longtime Milwaukee Summerfest crowd pleasers including the distinction of being the first band to greet fest goers at the main gate in '08! Performed over the years at many stages including the Harley Davidson, Old Style, Blues, Johnson Controls, Briggs Big Backyard and Potawatomi Stages, showing that the Invaders stage show pleases crowds wherever they perform and have shared stages and opened for many notable International acts since 1991! The current line-up includes members who have come from many notable bands in the area who played the same style of music including "International Jet Set", “Highball Holiday”, “Reaching Scarlet”, “Mista Mina”, “707” and “The Fallout” making this band a local Super Band! Their original music is influenced by traditional 60's Jamaican legends like Desmond Dekker, Laurel Aitken and Bob Marley as well as 80's British Two-Tone Ska, and many bands since like Oingo Boingo, UB40, the Police and Fishbone. With a fun mix of Ska, Reggae, Calypso and unexpected covers thrown into the set this band brings high-energy and danceable groove music for all ages to festivals, clubs and college campuses wherever they go!
