The Brainstorm is an Electronic Music project which started in October 2016 by Stratos Vassis producing tracks within a variety of styles such as Breakbeat, Electronica, EDM, Techno, Trance and Soundtrack Music. The songs are inspired by the hits of the late 90's where it was a complete revolution on the Electronic Music industry but also from other musical genres including Metal, Rock, Classical Music and other. However for this project any track can be an influence to start off putting some notes together.
Stratos is an experienced electric guitar player who either plays the lead or the rhythmic part in the bands he has worked or working with. He also plays the synth mainly for the lead parts or to jam some new melodies to the tracks he has already produced. The keyboard, the acoustic guitar and the chalice drum are also options as musical instruments for him. Besides listening, playing and composing/arranging he really enjoys exploring new music sounds.
In 2001, tape recording electronic tracks from the radio got him into creating playlists while he was also breakdancing to them. He was not practicing in any musical instrument yet until 2006. Being inspired by the melodic and heavy sounds of Metal and Rock Music that he has been listening to, Stratos started to learn how to play the electric guitar, a Jackson Randy Rhoads Flying V, which is until now his primary musical instrument and the most influential for him to play. After a year of good practicing on technique, rhythm, some basic musical education and jamming with friends, in 2007 he participated in the formation of a metal band where they mostly were covering favourite songs. All the experience from playing music along with his mates and showing up in lives was a good establishment for him as a guitar player and was helpful for having a good comprehension with other musicians, for having ideas to write down some riffs and tracks and to improvise on the guitar while jamming.
In 2010 a video by Jim Pavloff which was showing the recreation of a Prodigy track in Ableton Live was the beginning for him to start exploring on how to make music out of a computer. At first sight his intention for using the PC was to save the melodies written from the guitar and adding some drums just to have a prework of the tracks that were being prepared for the band. After many hours of learning the program and watching tutorials for techniques about the sound designing and its complicated details, Stratos started to experiment and create music which was either directly from the computer or with the addition of some musical instruments. Based on many influences from the oldschool electronic scene he decided to upgrade the equipment with the required machines for a home studio. Until today there are many things that he continuously keep learning and engaging into his knowledge, either on mixing and mastering tracks, musical theory or practicing technique for any of the instruments above.
