THE ART OF WAR
“The Art of War“ is a Geraldton based original music band with a sound nestled right between Rock and Metal. The subjects the songs tackle range from the emotional to the political. They currently have a 13 track debut self titled CD available and have recently finished a film clip for one of the tracks off the aforementioned CD.
“The Art of War” initially began as a collaboration between two musicians, Aaron Willcox and James McDonald, after meeting at a party and discussing their ideas for creating original music. Both found that they had a passion for the exact same music and their ideas for music were on the same page. Both Aaron and James were acquainted over many years of gigging in local Geraldton bands, though never playing in one together and never really being good friends as such. Aaron is predominantly a Guitarist but is more than capable on many different instruments, James is a Lead Vocalist in a local Cover Band and Guitarist.
After they started working together, three things became apparent. There were no ego’s, there was no arguing and the music was certainly different to anything else out there.
Friends of theirs, fellow local musicians, Jacko Beije (Bassplayer) and Daniel Beaver (Drums), have recently stepped in to take the places needed to be able to perform live gigs, do film clips and create future music together with. Their input into the creative process will be valuable and their drive to make something from “The Art of War” is certainly a palpable one.
“The Art of War” are under no allusions. They aren’t in this to be rock stars… or even to be famous. It’s purely an exercise in doing what they’ve wanted since first playing an instrument. To be creative, to make new music, maybe even garner a bit of a following…… anything else on top of that is a bonus.
