Talley Summerlin is a choir boy gone rogue. His songs are about protest, possibility, life as it is, and the world as it could be. Recommended if you like: Crowded House/Neil Finn, Peter Gabriel, The Swell Season/Glen Hansard, and Michael Penn.
In July, 2012, he released a 3-song EP called Shake the Gates. To record and produce the new EP he collaborated with veterans who have worked with Grammy-winning artists Seal, Sheryl Crow and Shawn Colvin.
He was once lead singer and lyricist of a band called BE. They recorded six critically-acclaimed DIY albums of modern rock music from 1989 to 2002. The band’s swansong, Thistupidream, was one of the best reviewed self-produced, independent albums of 2001.
His lyrics have been called intelligent but passionate, introspective but worldly, melancholy but hopeful. His voice has been called bittersweet. He writes intense songs that also happen to be melodic as all hell.

Production, mixing and overdubs were completed in Fayetteville, Arkansas, by his brother and former band mate, Mark Summerlin, guitarist, backing vocalist, and music director for Grammy Award-winning, international pop star Seal. Brother Paul, also currently touring with Seal, added backing vocals and keyboards to the EP as well.
Basic tracks were recorded and produced by Andy Sharp at Scharf-Sharp Farms in Austin, Texas. Sharp’s previous credits include engineering and production assistance for Sheryl Crow, Spoon, and Blue October. The drumming of Austin’s Chris Searles – formerly with Shawn Colvin and Ian Moore, now on tour with Alejandro Escovedo – is a solid, steady highlight of each track.
