Q: Where does the name of the band come from? Our family name here in Southern California is Strayhorn. BTW, I know there is a country band out of Oklahoma as well. Cheers, Mark

A: Hi Mark, Thanks for your question and apologies for the delay in replying. The name comes from two quarters really - one is Billy Strayhorn composer/arranger and Duke Ellington's right hand man, so we like some jazz with our blues and the more horns the better - the other is the notion that a 'strayhorn' might be a steer that has chosen to wander away from the herd ...
