"Tip of the Hat" liner notes:
As a lifelong music fan/lover, and although, to date, I have recorded several albums of original material, I had been considering recording an album of cover tunes of artists/recordings I have always liked.
I thought it would be fun to record an album of these various tunes, as a way of paying homage to both the original artists and the original recordings.
Rather than personalize or somehow stylize these selections of songs as some might be inclined to do, I decided I would try to replicate the original recordings as closely as possible, meaning every arrangement, key, melody, harmony, guitar lick, drum fill, keyboard string or horn part and vocal nuance was to be addressed to this end.
I very much enjoyed working on this project, and am grateful to the assemblage of talented friends who lent their assistance. I hope everyone who hears this album enjoys our musical endeavor as much as we did in partaking in it.
