With vocal harmonies as sweet as honeysuckle and a carefree nature that reminds one of simpler times like grass on bare feet, Ashley Claxton and Cola Williamson of Somebody's Child have spent the past 5 years “walking the streets in stranger’s shoes” and delighting crowds all around the southeast.
Their sound might best be described as the musical embodiment of the life one might live if they were born and raised in Western North Carolina's very own version of the “back of beyond”, with a mix of flavors as varied as the people that call these mountains and valleys home. With lyrics that whisper life into the ghosts of Western NC, the history, culture and people of this little piece of heaven take center stage.
Both of these Tuckaseegee troubadours have spent most of their lives singing and sharing the gift of music, and their mutual joy shines through on stage. They are educators, students, and eternal advocates of the freedom to express, create and evolve in a world that can often seem fraught with hard times, but also affords us the opportunity to come together and share in the triumphs and tribulations we all experience.
